Scottish singing sensation Lewis Capaldi has officially announced his highly anticipated return to touring with a spectacular UK and Ireland arena tour set for September 2025, marking his first major live performances in over two years. The announcement comes just days after his emotionally charged surprise performance at Glastonbury Festival, where he delivered a triumphant comeback following his hiatus from the music industry.

The 28-year-old Bathgate native’s comeback story has captured the hearts of fans across the country after he stepped away from the spotlight in 2023 to focus on his mental health and manage his Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis. His return began with the release of his powerful new single “Survive” at midnight on 26 June, which debuted with deeply personal lyrics addressing his struggles over the past two years. The track is currently racing toward number one on the UK charts, leading by over 3,000 chart units according to early reports.

Capaldi’s Glastonbury performance on Friday proved to be a defining moment in his career resurrection. Taking to the Pyramid Stage two years after his emotional 2023 performance where Tourette’s symptoms forced him to rely on the crowd to finish “Someone You Loved,” the Scottish star told the audience: “Second time’s a charm on this one. I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn’t finish last time”. This time, his voice remained strong throughout the seven-song set, which included classics like “Before You Go,” “Grace,” “Hold Me While You Wait,” “Bruises,” “Forget Me,” and the live debut of “Survive”.

The emotional significance of this comeback cannot be understated. Following his 2023 Glastonbury struggle, Capaldi announced an indefinite break from touring, stating he needed to “spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order”. His journey back to the stage was carefully managed, beginning with intimate charity performances in Scotland during Mental Health Awareness Week in May 2025. These “phone-free” shows, organised in partnership with mental health charity Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), provided a supportive environment for both artist and audience.

The Lewis Capaldi tour will kick off on Sunday 7 September at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena before travelling to Aberdeen’s P&J Live on Thursday 11 September and Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on Saturday 13 September. The tour will then head to London for two consecutive nights at The O2 on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September, followed by Manchester’s Co-Op Live on Saturday 20 September. Additional dates include Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on Tuesday 23 September, Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena on Friday 26 September, Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on Saturday 27 September, and concluding at Dublin’s 3 Arena on Monday 29 September.

Capaldi will be joined throughout the tour by special guests Skye Newman and Aaron Rowe. Newman, an English singer-songwriter, recently saw her single “Hairdresser” enter the UK charts when it was released in March. The tour represents a significant milestone for Capaldi, who last performed at P&J Live in January 2023, where he equalled the Scottish indoor standing crowd record with 15,000 fans.

Tickets for the Lewis Capaldi tour go on general sale at 9am on Thursday 10 July 2025 via Ticketmaster and other major outlets. However, fans seeking early access can register for presale tickets, which begin at 9am on Tuesday 8 July. Multiple presale options are available, including an artist presale for those who have pre-ordered his upcoming record, an O2 Priority sale for O2 and Virgin Media customers, and venue-specific presales. Ticket prices range from £30.90 to £110.35 for the Glasgow show, with similar pricing structures expected across all venues.

The announcement of Capaldi’s comeback has generated significant excitement within the music industry and among fans who have waited patiently for his return. Rob Wicks, managing director at P&J Live, expressed his enthusiasm: “15,000 fans will remember Lewis Capaldi’s last gig at P&J Live in January 2023, when he equalled the Scottish indoor standing crowd record held by Gerry Cinnamon. Two years on, I’m sure his fans will all agree we’ve been desperate to see him back on stage doing what he does best”.

Capaldi’s openness about his mental health journey and Tourette’s syndrome has positioned him as an important advocate within the entertainment industry. His diagnosis of Tourette’s syndrome, a neurological condition causing involuntary movements and sounds called tics, was publicly shared in 2022. The condition can worsen during periods of stress and anxiety, contributing to his difficulties during live performances. His willingness to discuss these challenges has helped raise awareness and reduce stigma around both Tourette’s syndrome and mental health issues.

The success of “Survive” demonstrates that Capaldi’s appeal remains as strong as ever. The track, co-written with close collaborator Romans who also worked on his global hit “Someone You Loved,” addresses his struggles with raw honesty. Lyrics like “Most nights I fear that I’m not enough, I’ve had my share of Monday mornings when I can’t get up” reflect his journey through difficult times, while the chorus promises resilience: “I swear to God I’ll survive”.

Capaldi’s career statistics remain impressive despite his two-year absence. His breakthrough single “Someone You Loved” holds the record as the UK’s most-streamed song with over 560 million streams. He has achieved five UK number one singles and two number one albums, with his second album “Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent” becoming the fastest-selling album of 2023. His documentary “Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now,” which chronicles his rise to fame and mental health struggles, has been praised for its honest portrayal of the challenges facing artists in the modern music industry.

The Lewis Capaldi tour represents more than just a series of concerts; it stands as a testament to resilience, the importance of mental health awareness, and the power of seeking help when needed. For the hundreds of thousands of fans expected to attend these shows, the performances will undoubtedly be emotional celebrations of an artist who has overcome significant personal challenges to return stronger than before. As Capaldi himself declared at Glastonbury: “My name’s Lewis Capaldi, and I’m fucking back, baby”.

Given the unprecedented demand expected for these shows and Capaldi’s track record of selling out venues within minutes, fans are strongly advised to register for presale access and be prepared when tickets go on general sale. The Lewis Capaldi tour promises to be one of the most emotionally powerful and commercially successful comeback tours in recent British music history, marking the triumphant return of one of the country’s most beloved and authentic musical talents.
