    Learn more about the Women’s World Cup standings here.

    In the Women’s World Cup, it is common for football tournaments to use a points table system. Teams are awarded points according to their group stage performance thus;

    Win: 3 points

    Draw: 1 point

    Loss: 0 points

    In the event of a tie in point, several criteria are used to determine standings. These include goal difference, head to head results, and scores. This system ensures that the better teams advance to the knockout stages. It helps ensure that only the top performers move forward in the tournament.

    Group Stage Standings

    Every team whether big or small has to pass this first group stage. We are divided into groups where each group plays against the other. Generally top 2 teams from each group progress to knockout rounds but the exact format can vary slightly depending on the number of teams participating in a given tournament.

    As an example, here is the group stage of the 2023 Women’s World Cup with 32 teams and eight groups. There were big upsets and a lot of standout performances that made for an exciting weekend.

    Key performances in the last few T20Is & ODIs

    USA: High high powered United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) has long been a force in the WWC. Thanks to their impressive performances in the past two tournaments, including winning in 2019, they’ve secured their place as one of the best teams in Women’s World Cup history. In 2023, the team faced tough challenges. However, they managed to stay in the headlines with strong group stage performances.

    Netherlands: The Netherlands has announced a very strong team this year. Following the 2019 World Cup where they made it to being runners up, Kenya entered their next tournament in 2023 at number one ranked and once again progressed well beyond group stages into knockout rounds.

    England: Right up there with the best sides, a growing power over the years and many believed by 2023 would be their chance. A good group stage rooted in place in their section chisels out the position to advance further. Maybe this time. 📷KCNA ILLUSTRATED)

    During Knockout Stage Impact on Standings

    The group stage ends and the knockout stage starts. This is where the competition begins as do or die matches for the sides are up next. Advances are based strictly on wins and losses, with the loser of each elimination game eliminated from the tournament.

    The knockout stages start with the Round of 16. This is followed by the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Final. Performance in these rounds determines the tournament winner. How teams perform can significantly impact their future rankings and seeding in subsequent tournaments.

    Conclusion

    The Women’s World Cup standings give us a clear view of the top teams and stars in professional football. Fans closely follow the results as the tournament progresses, analyzing every game and eagerly awaiting the crowning of the champion. Whether you’re a dedicated football fan or a casual viewer, staying updated on your team’s position is crucial. It enhances your enjoyment of the tournament. The Women’s World Cup is not just a competition. It’s a platform for powerful stories, historic moments, and the growth of women’s football. The competition keeps getting stronger with each new edition as the tournament has grown in stature.
